Heart Sutra Mantra Decal – Tibetan Script
A Sacred Expression of Wisdom, Compassion and the Buddhist Path
The Heart Sutra Mantra Decal features the celebrated mantra associated with the Heart Sutra, one of the most widely known and recited scriptures in Mahayana Buddhism.
Presented in Tibetan script alongside a Romanised transliteration, this decorative decal offers a meaningful way to display a traditional Buddhist expression of wisdom and spiritual understanding.
Suitable for personal spaces, meditation corners, study areas and other appropriate smooth surfaces, the decal brings an element of Buddhist literary and spiritual heritage into everyday surroundings.
The Heart Sutra – The Perfection of Wisdom
The Heart Sutra, known in Sanskrit as the Prajñāpāramitāhṛdaya Sūtra, forms part of the Buddhist Perfection of Wisdom tradition.
At the centre of its teaching is the understanding of emptiness (Śūnyatā) — the principle that phenomena do not possess a fixed, independent existence, but arise through causes, conditions and interdependence.
One of its most recognised teachings is the relationship between form and emptiness, inviting practitioners to look beyond habitual perceptions and develop deeper insight into the nature of reality.
The Heart Sutra has been studied, chanted and contemplated for centuries across Buddhist communities, including Tibetan, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese traditions.
The Mantra of the Heart Sutra
The decal features a Romanised rendering of the mantra:
Tadyatha Om Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha
The mantra is commonly interpreted as:
Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone completely beyond — awakening, so be it.
Rather than promising material rewards, the mantra is traditionally understood as an expression of the journey towards transcendent wisdom and awakening.
Its recitation forms part of devotional and contemplative practices in various Buddhist traditions.
Did You Know?
The Heart Sutra is remarkably concise compared with many other Buddhist scriptures, yet its teachings have inspired centuries of philosophical commentary.
The mantra is often understood in relation to the progressive development of wisdom. Its repeated expression of going beyond symbolises a movement beyond ordinary conceptual understanding towards deeper insight.
Although Buddhist sacred texts and mantras are sometimes incorporated into contemporary Feng Shui merchandise, the Heart Sutra is fundamentally a Buddhist scripture rather than a classical Feng Shui formula.
Understanding this distinction helps preserve the cultural and religious significance of the text.
Displaying the Decal
This decal may be displayed in a meditation or contemplation space, a personal study, or another suitable setting where its spiritual significance can be appreciated.
As it contains sacred Buddhist wording, thoughtful and respectful placement is recommended.
